The first Global Gateway Forum

Global Gateway Forum brought together representatives of governments from the European Union and from around the world with the private sector, civil society, leading thinkers, financing institutions, and international organisations in a two-day, invitation-only event in Brussels on 25 and 26 October 2023AVP was responsible for the overall audiovisual coordination of the event, from the initial conceptualization of the stage design, to the seamless execution of the entire show. Four expansive LED screens, each measuring 4,5m x 2,5m, combined with 13 custom-made printed panels for the backdrop, added a dynamic visual dimension captivating the audience from every angle.  A sophisticated sound system boasting over 40 wireless microphones channels delivered perfect audio for all attendees, and a light setup using LED fixtures guaranteed seamless illumination for the stage and backdrop. Live camera coverage with eight cameras with iso recording capabilities was not only used to project visuals onto the screens, but also to create a program feed to be distributed to the European Commission’s channels by the European Broadcasting Service. Another feed was created for the interpreters, working remotely from permanent booths at the Berlaymont Building. To accommodate the remote interpretation, we established two simultaneous ultra-low latency bi-directional HD connections with 14 audio channels , allowing the interpreters to follow the event as if they were present in the venue, and the audience in the venue to receive the interpretation in real time. For full audience accessibility, live captioning by two velotypists was also displayed on the screens. The entire setup was installed with full flexibility, allowing for a swift transformation from a single plenary room to three distinct breakout rooms in under 30 minutes. Our three dedicated control booths, each manned by our skilled crews, ensured that every moment of the production unfolded with precision and finesse. Besides the main conference rooms, we installed several 85” signage screens, several screens displaying the live feed, a sound system for announcements throughout the venue, all the equipment for 3 staff offices, and more.
